Junior High Service Hours

Service Hour Documents

Please note, we have updated service hours for this year. I have attached the new form and requirements page. Students will be able to earn up to 5 hours during the summer to use toward any trimesters (can be split). Those hours MUST be done at the organizations listed below, each of which have strict requirements (i.e. must be on SignUp Genius, applications, calling ahead to schedule, orientation, etc).

Requirements

  • 10 service hours are required each trimester
  • Hours may not be carried over between trimesters
  • Up to 5 hours may be earned over the summer. They may be applied to any trimester.

Summer hours must be earned at one of the following organizations with stipulations:

  • American Cancer Society Thrift Store (MUST be on SignUp Genius)
  • Knights of Columbus Recycling (MUST be on SignUp Genius)
  • Variety Children's Charity of the Desert – (MUST be on SignUp Genius)

St. Margaret's Church - Food and Clothing Distribution

About Us
Neighbors-4-Neighbors (N4N) began in 2007. The St. Margaret’s Church youth group held a rummage sale and raised $300. With those funds, they purchased food and gas cards and the rest, as they say, is history! N4N is a continuation of “St. Margaret’s Whitewater Park Food Distribution”, which originally operated in Rancho Mirage. To date, we have served more than 375,000 families, blessing them with millions of pounds of supplemental food and over 150,00 articles of clothing annually.

Food & Clothing Distribution: Tuesdays, 3:30-5pm
We strongly believe that neighbors helping neighbors is vital to keeping communities healthy. Because it is not practical for us to be everything to everyone, we focus on doing the best job we can in the areas of food and clothing assistance. For needs we are not equipped to meet, we do our best to connect clients with other resources in the community. Check out our community partner booths.

  • Food Assistance: In partnership with many local businesses and agencies, we provide supplemental food packages that include items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, protein, bread, pantry staples, and more.
  • Clothing Assistance: Each week we distribute hundreds of gently worn men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing items. Our hardworking team of volunteers, sort and hang clothing in preparation for Tuesday’s distribution.
  • Resources and Referrals: We can't do it alone. N4N at St. Margaret's is connected to many local resource organizations, allowing us to assist clients by connecting them with goods and services that we don't provide directly.

1.5 hours will be given and the opportunity may be done twice per trimester.

PARENT MUST REMAIN WITH STUDENTS.

Students must wear SHS volunteer shirt (SHS outerwear only), tennis shoes, and PE shorts/jeans/bermuda shorts. No short shorts. No cell phone use during volunteering. Please take you service hour form to be signed by a Neighbors-4-Neighbors partner.
